Are you a lover of books and language, perhaps an aspiring author, or simply someone who enjoys the fascinating facts of history? If so, don’t miss our next seasonal talk in partnership with BCP Libraries.
Gob. Snot and What-ho Squiffy! A short survey of slang, the vulgar tongue, and other lingo.
This rollicking good fun, historically informative, and somewhat naughty talk ranges from the bawdy of Shakespeare to the ruffian and outsider lingos of Cant, Flash, Yiddish, and Polari with a smattering of RAF banter thrown in for good measure.
Gob, Snot and What-ho Squiffy! will last 45 minutes followed by a short Q&A session and a pop-up publishing consultancy clinic for attendees who are aspiring authors and writers.
